Jenn Shellhammer

Jenn Shellhammer is the founder of Creating Aces, established in 2011 when she returned to PA after residing in Washington, D.C. for 12 years following college.

A longtime member of the Lehigh Valley softball community, Shellhammer’s coaching experience spans the collegiate, high school, travel and national levels. She previously served as head coach at Lehigh Carbon Community College, for 5 seasons where she led the Cougars to their first regional berth in program history in 2017. She also previously served as the pitching coach at Montgomery College in Rockville, Md., and most recently at Northampton High School where she spent the last 9 seasons, working primarily with the Konkrete Kids’ pitching staff. During her tenure, Northampton compiled a 145-53 overall record, while its pitchers posted a combined 2.26 ERA during that time. Shellhammer played an integral role in the development of their pitching staff throughout her 9 seasons, helping support one of the area’s consistently competitive high school programs.

A 1997 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School, Shellhammer was an All-East Penn Conference standout and was named the 1997 Pennsylvania State Pitcher of the Year and a Fastpitch Magazine High School All-American.

Shellhammer began her collegiate career at Radford University, where she made an immediate impact in the circle, breaking numerous pitching records as a freshman and earning All-Big South Conference honors in each of her two seasons with the Highlanders. More than two decades later, Shellhammer remains among Radford’s career pitching leaders in several categories, including wins, strikeouts, complete games and shutouts. Her 2.17 career ERA still ranks second in program history.

She transferred to the University of Maryland for her final two seasons of eligibility, earning ACC Pitcher of the Week honors twice and All-Tournament Team recognition at the Triangle Classic during her time with the Terrapins. As a senior, she was referenced by head coach, Gina LaMandre, as the “Big game, Go to Pitcher” and went 4-2 against Top 25 ranked teams in the country. 

Shellhammer continued competing at the highest levels of women’s fastpitch following her collegiate career. In 2004, she was a guest pitcher with the California Sunbirds professional softball team and, in 2008, was selected as the starting pitcher for the PA Longstreth All-Star team that faced the U.S. Olympic Team during its preparation for the Beijing Olympic Games. She was chosen as a Maryland All-Star who competed against the US National team in 2015, as well. 

Her extensive Women’s Major Softball career includes 5 All-American Tournament Team selections and several notable pitching performances. In 2018, Shellhammer threw a no-hit shutout with 19 strikeouts at the Women’s Major National Tournament, setting an all time tournament record for strikeouts in a game. In 2019, at age 40, she earned both All-Tournament Team honors and the tournament’s Outstanding Pitcher Award. In 2022, she threw a perfect game and later defeated the Stratford Brakettes 4-2 in the championship game.

Shellhammer was inducted into the Allentown Central Catholic Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Lehigh Valley Softball Hall of Fame in 2013. She currently serves on the Board of Directors at Patriots Park in Allentown and has been a member of the Lehigh Valley Softball Hall of Fame Committee since 2023.

Shellhammer earned her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice & Criminology from the University of Maryland and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of New England. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Pennsylvania, she serves as a Senior Manager of Practice Operations for the networks Partial Hospitalization Programs at St. Luke’s University Health Network.
